Cute Winter Gonk Christmas Decoration made from Yarn
Переглядів 5107 місяців тому
I thought I'd share how I make my Winter Gonks. These make an ideal stocking filler at Christmas or could even be given in place of a card. They are simple to make using left over yarn and are so darn cute! I have intentionally not added any music to this video (I've had complaints about it!) Let me know if you think I should always leave out the music or if you think it adds something. I hope ...

The 404g had Singer's slant shank design, to make the stitching point easier to see. I hope you enjoy this video and find it useful. if you do please give it a...

Singer 221 Featherweight - How to Thread Up and Use
I have used a similar recipe which also included methylated spiririts / denatured alcohol.
Thank you for getting back to me. It does appear that it is indeed the wrong shuttle, I spent the whole of yesterday trying to thread it up, lesson learned lol I’ve been refunded and being given the correct information to buy the one I need, thanks again
I’m glad you got it figured out!
This helped me so much! my machine now runs so much more smoothly. Thank you!!!
You’re welcome!
How well does she sew through vinyl and canvas? Thinking of purchasing one for my antique boat 😂😊
I would go for a more heavy duty machine.
I have a pfaff 145 for the big projects like seat cushions, V berth cushions and such but I did see one punching through leather so that's an indication it's capable of it 😉 I just purchased one from Canada (1904). I'm in Seattle and can't wait to meet her 💃🥂
Actually, on these machines you should put the bobbin in so the thread comes out in a clockwise direction. You pull the thread and the bobbin spin clockwise. The opposite of what is claimed in this video. Later on, with the plastic bobbins, they put a small mark on one side of the bobbin. That mark should always be turned out. When you wind the bobbin, you turn the mark out, when you put the bobbin in the holder, you turn the mark out.
Thanks for that, but I'm sure I followed the instructions in the manual. I can't check as i no longer have the machine.
Hi thank you for your video, i’m wondering if you could answer a few questions, I have recently purchased one of these machines without the shuttle, i have bought one from eBay, the machine was sold as working well, however, I’m having difficulties getting the thread to pick up from the shuttle.. this is my second machine that I am working on, I’ve threaded up a shuttle before without difficulty, so could it be the wrong shuttle. It’s probably an obvious thing to know. But Could the wrong shuttle still fit, it came with a mixture of bobbins, some with a hole some with not, How do you know if you have a faulty shuttle, Thank you for your time. Regards Sue
Without seeing it, it is difficult to say, but I would guess that it’s the wrong shuttle. I would look to see if the thread is going around the shuttle which may indicate if the timing is out. It could be something as simple as a bad needle. Or the needle not being in correctly.
Or dont top it off with water!😂
Excellent video. Thank you so much!
Excellent Video Thx! I'm running a 15-88
Found your videos .. very interesting could the hole be for a knee arm to lift the foot ..l
The knee lever is for the speed control, not to lift the foot. Fascinating, aren't they?
Are these worth anything please?
it depends where you are and the condition
Thank you for sharing your videos I’ve found them very informative, I bought one for £40 but the foldout and removable bits are missing, however the machine its self is in good cosmetic and working condition, I’m hoping to be able to make the bits that are missing with my sons help. I wondered what the little lever at the back was for, you learn something new every day.
I'm glad I've been able to help you fill in a little piece of the jigsaw!
Yes my son said he’ll make me what I need, I’ve just got to buy him some blades for his jigsaw .. there always a clause lol
I have to thank you so much for this video! I found this exact model singer at a garage sale for $20. I spent eight dollars on oil and belts. And after watching this video, I have a brand new vintage sewing machine that works amazingly great video easy to follow easy to learn from and very relaxing with the music you picked, thank you thank you thank you!!!
You’re welcome. I hope you enjoy your machine for many years to come!

How big is your bottle so about how much water did u add, pls and tx Also should it be in a glass bottle
It's a 1 litre bottle, and I probably put in 500ml of water. It's fine in plastic.
My mother got this same super machine in the 50's. We didn't have electricity, so it came out with the device using your feet working up and down. Later when available, the electric motor was installed. I was the happiest little girl (trusted by mother) to work on this machine and happy to announce announce that I still work on it! I am 75 years old.
These machines are certainly built to last!
Good
Very nice 😂❤
Hi, I know that this is an old video, but if I'm really lucky you might be the be able to help. I have a Husqvarna Automatic 21E sewing machine, and I would very much like to have a buttonholer to go with it. What buttonholer would be compatible with mine, please? Can I use a Singer one that is made to go with zig-zag sewing machines do you think? Around my part of the planet, even the people that service my machine doesn't know about buttonholer, they are that rare. I've seen a fair lot of them (more than 10) made by Greist, but many more by/for Singer. With hopes of an answer, yours, Ann
Yes, as long as the button hole attachment is made for a low shank zig zag machine, it should work.
@@CurioByBSpokeDesigns Hi, Thank you so much for your answer. You have no idea how appreciative I am for this. I'm going to start to find one as soon as I can, but not at 11.30 pm CET. I have no idea what a low shank sewing machine is, but I trust that you do. Thank You. Yours, Ann
@@annlidslot8212 most domestic machines, such as most singers - apart from the slant shank machines, are low shank. Most industrial machines are high shank. There are some, such as Bernina, that have their own style of feet and attachments.
I do too. Keep at it!!

Hi. Great videos, thank you. I have a Novum sewing machine (model: Novum 2000) and there is a wee plate on the side which declares that it is made by the Janome Sewing Machine Company Ltd in Taiwan as designed and specified by the Novum Sewing Machine Company UK. It’s fairly ancient but a beautiful machine (and weighs a tonne!)
That's interesting! It fascinate me, the convoluted history of these machines.
Where can I one to buy please. What is the name of this foot.
please do a video on the swing needle machine singer 206 family
Ah…. searching for days together for this recipe,i found yours finally. Thank you so much for such easy and affordable one… you have one more follower now😊
You're welcome!
What a pretty machine. I enjoyed seeing the mechanics as they are different from my American machines. Thsnks for sharing this video.
You're welcome!
I think you’ll find hand cranking isn’t free to run. Mine’s fuelled with biscuits
This is SUCH a useful video thank you!!
Great new techniques! Thanks!
I think a 319 sews just as well!
Singer 319 gets my vote. They make perfect stitches and they are wild!
Where can i get this
Learned a couple differences however I did recognize the 99 vs the 66. Yep, I still got it. I am not talking about the number of Singers I own and maintain. I love them all.
Hi, i follow your video and i apply your passagges. At the end when i'am ready to sew the needle presser foot impeds fabric sliding
Check you stitch length as well as the presser foot pressure.
Im new to clay... just have a question... is there a way to apply mica powder on dry clay? Love the idea you gave
You mean cured (baked) clay? The only way I know is with some sort of glaze or varnish.
@@CurioByBSpokeDesigns yes baked/cured clay. Told you im new to this lol
Thank you for your demonstration, I found this contraption amongst many other bits and pieces and wondered what it was, brilliant demo
I've one of these but can't seem to get the bobbin to loop i think its the hook tensioner but I've never used a sewing machine and don't know what I'm looking for.. please and thanks
Without seeing the problem it’s difficult to say. I would start by making sure that the bobbin and the needle are in the right way round.
I note you said that the 99’s did not have the more elaborate decals, but mine has the Lotus design. According to IMACS the serial number dates it to 1913.
The lotus decals were only on the 66. Check your machine’s face plate - 99s have a flat faceplate while the 66 is shaped more like a D.
@@CurioByBSpokeDesigns thank you for the reply. I did wonder if it was a 66 but was thrown by the serial number which said it was a 99. I bought it two weeks ago in a local charity shop for 20€ and the decals are in excellent condition, but I took it to my local sewing machine clinic for them to give it a full maintenance once over last week. It has a motor and light but perhaps this was an after addition. I also have another beautiful and perfect 99, serial number Y8381138 (3/2/31) which I bought from the same charity shop, also for 20€.
Great video. Would love to see a video on restoring a Singer 222K Featherweight like the one you did for the Singer 99K. Your tutorials are so informative. I’ve just acquired a Singer 222K Featherweight. It’s in OK condition but I think it needs a deep dive servicing
I haven’t been lucky enough to find a 222 yet!
A 320K makes better stitches. Since I can't afford one, I'm happy with my 319K.
great video, closeup video.... excellent. thank you
Thank you for sharing your process!
thank you!
I've had my mothers Alfa for a few years and never got it going... so Thank you for explaining... the book that comes with it is jargon to me, but this made it happen. Mom is 92 now and can't use the machine but she recalls lots of tales using it. She was a consummate seamstress and made all kinds of wedding dresses and clothes... even a whole canvas tent!!... And did it all on this machine.
I THANK YOU FOR THIS COMPLETE AND VERY INSTRUCTIVE VIDEO ON THE NECCHI SEWING MACHINE. I watched my Dear Mother sew for hours on hers. She made our dress shirts. Father and son matching shirts, etc. She made me a double breasted suit coat and you couldn't tell it WASN'T a professionally made coat. She ordered custom labels for all her creations and perfectly sewed them in. She had used her Mother's treadell Singer and Dad bought her the NECCHI, back in the 1950's. I was super young and don't remember the year. My grandson played around it and has done something with the CAM CASE. I haven't been able to find it. I got the info, off the back base of her machine, and punched it in on UA-cam and your site was the first one that popped up. That was Her machine. Same color, even. You showed how to fill the bobbin and how to thread it and how to sew with it, and how to use the cam box and cams and the Button Hole cam. You even showed how to use the cams for embroidery stitching. I thank God I found this video !!! THANK YOU!!!
Your mother sounds like such a talented lady! I'm glad my video was of help.
I've found a lot of the affordable polymer clays, Mont marte being the one I have access to easiest, are sticky and overly soft. I started with Mont marte figuring it'd be good practice for when I could afford the Fimo and Premo, but it was so soft and tacky the skills I needed to use it were often irrelevant when using better clays unless I had done something like adding too much liquid clay.
I was thinking vintage as in the 1979s lol
